Volunteering is an excellent way to get out and about, meet people, and continue to make a valuable community contribution.
The work of our volunteers cannot be praised enough. Our dedicated team of volunteer admin workers kindly give their time and effort to enable us to provide good service to the many seniors who contact us.
Peer Education is one of COTA (WA)’s most successful programs. The presentations given to seniors’ groups by our team of trained volunteers on the safe use of medicines, generic medicines and seniors and depression are well received wherever they are held. Why so? Simply because we all like to hear from our peers – people in our own age group have similar life experiences and a better understanding of life from our perspective than younger people - even more so when the peer educators are community spirited and dedicated to their task.
Our other volunteers include our board and committee members. They give their time and energy, despite the busy lives many of them lead, to support a cause to which they are committed, making a contribution which is often unrecognised.
From our volunteers’ perspective, they tell me that they enjoy their involvement with us and they get a tremendous sense of self worth from it. Many also enjoy the contact with people in an increasingly lonely world. Not least amongst the joys of volunteering with COTA is the opportunity to learn new skills.
So, if you are looking for something worthwhile to do, want to get out of the house for a few hours, and would enjoy working for WA’s peak not for profit seniors’ organisation, contact us on 08 9321 2133 or send an email
