By resoultion of the Board of the Council on the Ageing Western Australia Incorporated, a Special General Meeting will be held at 3pm on 17 August 2010 in the theatre of the Alexander Library, 25 Francis Street, Perth Cultural Centre, Perth, at which time it is propsed to recommend to members that they approve amendment of 11.5.1 of the Association's constitution to read:
11.5.1 Duration of membership of the Board for elected members shall be three (3) years from the date of the Annual General Meeting, or Special General Meeting at which they were elected unless Board vacancies have occurred during the previous year which have disrupted the orderly succession of Directors inentended under clause 11.5.2, in which case election may be for a period of one or two years. The Directors who will serve for less than 3 years shall be determined by lot.
No person, whether elected or co-opted, may serve on the Board for more than six (6) consecutive years, i.e. two (2) terms unless Directos unanimously agree there is a need for the continuing service of an individual who will complete six (6) consecutive years in office when elected are next held and recommend to members that the person concerned should be permitted to nominate for re-election until the next ensuing Annual General Meeting. Directos shall not recommend nomination for re-election for any person who has served as a Director for nine consectuive years.
Persons who have completed the permitted period of continuous service as Directos may re-nominate for election after an absence of not less that the interval between two (2) Annual General Meetings.

Researchers from the Univsersity of New South Wales, the University if Western Sydney and Murdoch University are seeking help for a research program into age-specific housing in Australia. The purpose of this research is to provide a comprehensive appraisal of housing options available in Australia to older people with low to moderate incomes. The experience and views of residents and providers of age-specific housing would be of significant benefit to the research project and final report.
